Tampa Electric’s Customer Care team is living up to its name not just at its company, but in the community too. With a trio of events over the course of a recent weekend, company team members demonstrated the good things they can achieve by volunteering to help those in need.

“For this team, it was a natural decision to come forward and help people in the community who are in a tough spot,” said Dorrian Morgan, coordinator in Customer Care’s Plant City office.

At Feeding America Tampa Bay in Tampa, Support Services team members spent Friday, March 8 sorting perishable food donations and stocking shelves with food that goes to hundreds of local charities that feed the poor and hungry.

The next day, Customer Care team members – including many from Support Services and other areas – were back in action at Pin Chasers Bowling Alley in Tampa, site of the annual Junior Achievement Bowl-a-Thon fundraiser to benefit JA Biztown. Look for more on the Bowl-a-Thon here soon.

Rounding out the weekend, team members in Customer Care and Energy Management volunteered at the Florida Strawberry Festival on Sunday, March 10, assisting volunteers and guests at the festival’s guest services house.

“The Strawberry Festival is one of the biggest events in the Tampa Bay area, and since Tampa Electric helped power the event, it makes sense that it would be an opportunity for us to show another positive thing we bring to the community,” Morgan said. “That would be the power of people making a difference.”
