TECO Energy’s commitment to a high-talent workforce includes INROADS students like Fadwa Hilili. She recently was named among the top 25 students under age 25 in the College of Business at the University of South Florida.

Hilili, a member of the Purchasing & Contract Services team at Tampa Electric, will join other honorees at a ceremony April 26 at USF.

Hilili, on track to earn her bachelor’s degree in accounting this fall – two years ahead of schedule – has a full-time role at Tampa Electric while taking up to 18 credit hours each semester and maintaining a 3.45 grade point average.

“I’m honored to receive this award from USF, and I can say without a doubt that my experience at TECO has been an invaluable part of my development” Hilili said. “I’ve always believed that if you work hard with integrity and network, great opportunities can open up. I look forward to more opportunities to grow and achieve at TECO.”

Hilili joined Tampa Electric as a Business Cooperative Education (BCE) student with Tampa Electric’s Credit & Collections team in 2010 before moving to Purchasing & Contract Services. In June, she’ll join Tampa Electric’s Audit Services team.

On USF’s website, Hilili is in the running for the designation of “Most Remarkable” in the 25 Under 25 program.

As president of the Tampa Bay INROADS Student Association, Hilili has used her voice to encourage TECO to welcome more students from INROADS, the nation’s largest non-profit source of paid internships for undergraduate, diverse youth.

Luis de la Torre, supervisor of Inventory Management, is Hilili’s performance coach and a member of the INROADS advisory board. He praised Hilili and what she has brought to the company.

“Fadwa represents the incredible caliber of team member that we need and want at TECO, and it’s been a pleasure to see her develop and thrive as a valued member of this team,” de la Torre said. “She has a great outlook, encourages others to excel and always brings her best to the table. This wonderful recognition from USF reflects everything we at TECO already know about her.”
