Earlier this year, I shared that the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) approved Tampa Electric’s Demand-Side Management (DSM) plan – a plan that determines how many energy-efficiency programs we offer and the rebate amounts we pay customers who install high-efficiency equipment. More recently, the FPSC staff approved our DSM standards, allowing us to move forward with making final adjustments to our programs, including adding a new one, Thermal Energy Storage – a program that helps business customers save on cooling costs. The updates to our existing 38 programs, along with details on the new program, will be available on our residential and business websites on Nov. 3, 2015.

In my July 2015 and Nov. 2014 blog posts, I explained why Tampa Electric sets goals and why it was important to reset DSM goals based on external factors that are beyond our control. I’m pleased to share that the outcome of this rigorous goal-setting process will provide significant benefits to all of our more than 700,000 customers across West Central Florida. One of the benefits includes a nearly $9 million annual reduction in spending on DSM programs that will be shared by all our customers. Remember, one of our priorities is to help you use energy wisely. Don’t hesitate to reach out to our energy experts with any questions you might have. It’s truly a pleasure to serve you with affordable and reliable electricity.
