Hey manatees, come on in – the water’s fine!

Deliveries don’t get much more special than this: We’re talking about a day in December when three small moving trucks showed up at the doorstep of Tampa Electric’s Manatee Viewing Center, joined by an eager group of people in water shoes. The trucks’ rear doors rattled open and inside each was a large, passive creature with gray skin and scars on its body. They were doing just fine – great, in fact. Habitat trail at the Manatee Viewing Center

The trail in environmental stewardship that the Manatee Viewing Center has blazed since 1986  is one that you can enjoy at ground-level. November 1  marks the opening of the center’s coastal habitat trail, a mulched path that winds eight-tenths of a mile through saltern, coastal high marsh and coastal strand habitats.
