To further its commitment to clean and green plug-in electric vehicles, TECO Energy, the parent company of Tampa Electric, signed a pledge with the Department of Energy to become a workplace charging partner, adding its name to a list of approximately 75 employers across the country that provide electric charging access to employees.
“We’re leading by example,” said Kenneth Hernandez, program manager of the company’s alternative fuel vehicle initiatives. Today, the company has 15 Level 2 charges (240-volt) and multiple standard outlets (120-volt) that employees can access. “We have plans to install additional Level 2 charging stations at approximately 20 company facilities across the four counties serviced by Tampa Electric,” said Hernandez.
