If you’re shopping over the holiday weekend, we encourage you to support your local small businesses.
November 29 is this year’s official Small Business Saturday. Held on the first Saturday after Thanksgiving, it was first observed in 2010. It’s a counterpart to big box retail’s Black Friday and e-commerce store’s Cyber Monday.
Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize brick and mortar stores that are small and local. These establishments are the backbone of America and make a large impact on the economy. According to the Small Business Administration, about 63% of all new jobs created in the U.S. from mid-2009 to the end of 2012 were for small businesses. We think that’s pretty big business!
So stop in and make a purchase any time, not just on Small Business Saturday.
