Over the past seven years, the city of Temple Terrace has tapped into Tampa Electric’s many energy-saving programs to not only Go Green, but to save some green too! Just this year alone, the city received more than $11,000 in rebates from Tampa Electric for installing energy-efficient indoor and outdoor lighting at several facilities, including the Temple Terrace Family Recreation Center, Omar K. Lightfoot Recreation Center, the Water Department and the Public Library. The newly installed lighting in these facilities will provide much better illumination and will also result in an annual reduction in ongoing energy costs of around $9,000. This benefits the residents that use these facilities as well as the environment and the Temple Terrace tax payers.

Tampa Electric representatives will be on hand at the Dec. 6 Temple Terrace City Council meeting to present the rebate check.

“This is one of the favorite parts of my job,” said Alan Denham, regional manager for Community Relations with Tampa Electric. “I like seeing the results of bringing Tampa Electric’s energy experts together with the energy decision-makers who are responsible for helping their employers make wise energy choices.”

Currently, Tampa Electric offers 36 programs to help residential and business customers save on energy costs.

“For more than 40 years, Tampa Electric has been providing energy-saving programs to its customers across West Central Florida,” said Curtis Simmons, commercial energy analyst with Tampa Electric. “In that time, we’ve performed more than 458,000 free energy audits and paid more than 482,000 rebates.”

Tampa Electric is proud to offer more energy-saving program than any other investor-owned electric utility in the state of Florida.
