Zap Cap and the Tampa Bay Lightning honor fourth Coach of the Month

lamarreTampa Electric’s Zap Cap Systems is partnering with the Tampa Bay Lightning this season to recognize and honor youth sports coaches in our community who coach kids ages 18 and under.

David LaMarre was announced as the fourth honoree during the Mar. 8 Lightning home game against the Boston Bruins. LaMarre is the coach of Tampa WMCA Youth Basketball Panthers and soccer coach for Tampa Bay United. He was nominated multiple times for this award by parents of students he coaches.

LaMarre believes strength of character, respect for others and a drive to succeed can all be cultivated through the efforts of a coach. He says one of his proudest moments was when every kid on his basketball team scored a basket during a game.

Tampa Electric Vice President Bruce Narzissenfeld presented LaMarre with a custom Lightning jersey and a $250 gift certificate to use on equipment and supplies for the teams he coaches. “It was an honor to present Coach LaMarre with the Zap Cap Coach of the Month award,” said Narzissenfeld.  “Coach LaMarre is a dedicated youth coach in our community, giving his time and experience to help strengthen character in our young people.”

Anyone can nominate a youth or high school coach in the Greater Tampa Bay area for consideration for the fifth and final award this season. For more information on how you can nominate a deserving youth coach, go to  or visit Tampa Electric’s Zap Cap table located in section 109 of Amalie Arena during Monday through Thursday home games and section 312 during Friday through Sunday games.
