For Home Zap Cap Coach

Zap Cap Systems® honors Coach of the Month

Tampa Electric’s Zap Cap  Systems® honored its December Coach of the Month at the Jan. 3 Tampa Bay Lightning game. Zap Cap has partnered with the Lightning this season to recognize and honor youth sports coaches in our community who coach kids ages 18 and under.

We’re proud to congratulate Steinbrenner High School Girls Varsity Lacrosse Coach Ed Kay as the latest recipient of this honor.

Inspired to start coaching at 17 years old, Kay first coached youth street hockey before moving onto coaching indoor soccer, swimming and flag football at the youth levels. Since he began coaching at the high school level in 2008, seven girls on his teams have obtained Division II college scholarships in lacrosse. In its 2016 season, Steinbrenner High achieved a 15-3 record, going 7-0 in its district.

Sarah MacDonald, president of TECO Services, was on hand to present the award to Coach Kay. Coach Kay opted to donate his $1,000 award to the Hillsborough County Lacrosse Alliance.

Zap Cap Systems is proud to support the strength of youth coaches across our communities. Anyone can nominate a youth or high school coach in the Greater Tampa Bay area for consideration. For more information on how you can nominate a deserving youth coach, go to www.tampabaylightning.com/ZapCap.
