Tampa Electric’s Zap Cap Systems has partnered with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to support local coaches and student athletes through the 2016 Coach of the Week program. The initiative honors and rewards high school football coaches for youth development on and off the field.

“Our business is about helping our customers, providing them with protection and premium electric services for home and work,” said Kenna Gonzalez, Zap Cap program manager.

“This is another way we’re engaging with our community and highlighting the good things. Youth coaches do so much more than teach the fundamentals of a sport. They work hard to build leadership qualities, foster the importance of teamwork and perseverance, and often model respect and care for others,” Gonzalez said. “We want to recognize coaches that motivate their student athletes to be good people.”

Each week during the prep football season, fans will have the opportunity to vote for one of four coaches from Hillsborough and Pinellas counties to be named the Buccaneers Coach of the Week. Coaches selected for consideration will have led their schools to an impressive victory and demonstrated a commitment to fundamentals, player safety, sportsmanship, academic development, and community engagement.

Fans have four days to vote online before a weekly winner is announced. Following the voting, the winning head coach and selected members of the team are invited to One Buccaneer Place for an inside look at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ training facility. The Coach of the Week will receive a $1,000 grant to support the school’s football program, will be presented with a personalized Coach of the Week football by Buccaneers Head Coach Dirk Koetter, and will be featured in an exclusive Buccaneers.com video profile with Team Insider Casey Phillips.

The Buccaneers and Zap Cap Systems will honor a total of 11 high school coaches throughout this year’s football season. At the end of the season, a Coach of the Year will be selected from the 11 weekly winners. The Coach of the Year will receive an additional $1,000 for his football program and will be honored on the field at Raymond James Stadium prior to a Tampa Bay Buccaneers regular season home game.

Three coaches have been honored since the start of the regular season. Check them out here, and learn more about this week’s candidates and vote for the next Coach of the Week at www.bucanneers.com/coachoftheweek.
